Variation of uncertainty of drainage density in flood hazard mapping assessment with coupled 1D–2D hydrodynamics model

چکیده

Abstract Coupled 1D–2D hydrodynamic models are widely utilized in flood hazard mapping. Previous studies adopted conceptual hydrological or 1D to evaluate the impact of drainage density on river flow. However, affects not only flow, but also flooded area and location. Therefore, this work adopts model SOBEK investigate The uncertainty mapping is assessed by a designed case real case, Yanshuixi Drainage Tainan, Taiwan. Analytical results indicate that under same return period rainfall, reduction tributary drainages (indicating lower density) an underestimate drainages. This causes higher peak discharges total volume drainages, leading flooding certain downstream reaches, thereby overestimating area. decreases with increased rainfall. We suggest modeling low rainfalls requires For extreme rainfall events, could be selected, local key areas should raised.

Comparison of classic and fuzzy analytic hierarchy processes for mapping the flood hazard of Birjand plain

Flood is one of the most destructive natural hazards which impose vast costs in order to compensate its effects, especially in areas where there are manifestations of human development (such as cities). Urban development, particularly in the margins of rivers, has increased flood damages in recent decades. The aim of this study was to develop flood hazard maps of Birjand plain based on analyses...

Flood Hazard Mapping using Aster Image data with GIS

Flood is one of the most devastating natural hazards which lead to the loss of lives, properties and resources. It has therefore become important to create easily read, rapidly accessible flood hazard map, which will prioritize the mitigation effects. This study addresses the need for an efficient and cost-effective methodology for preparing flood hazard maps in Ghana, particularly those region...
